A grand day out...

Fortunately, we'd decided to go to the Three Counties Show on Sunday, so we got the best of the weekend weather - although we went well equipped with waterproofs and wellies, we didn't have to dodge the rain at all.  The selection of beautiful animals on show was as good as always.   Lots of sheep looking as if they might have been specially needle felted for the occasion - we were amused by the ones wearing coats.

Some very laid back snoozers, totally oblivious to the crowds and the admiration they were receiving!

Definitely would like to have taken some of these home, difficult resist this offer -

Especially after talking to this lovely chap -

As usual there was a Hound Parade in the main ring, and after showing themselves off by doing a couple of speedy circuits,

They did what hounds like best,

Played with the children who were invited into the ring to meet them.

Cattle came in all sizes and colours -

Large,   Extra large

Small and black, medium and white

Smooth and shiny (these are Gloucester cows, a breed saved by enthusiasts from near extinction.  Their milk is used in Single and Double Gloucester Cheese, and the famous Stinking Bishop made locally by Charles Martell)

And very hairy...

But some of us were much too busy going to parade ring to bother about being photographed!

Hope you all had an equally nice Sunday.

Wow! Wish I could have been too but was over for the quilt show there in may and hubby would not be happy for a return trip so soon!
The sheep blankets keep their fleece clean- not for warmth! (My sheep are not wearing them and it is a chore to wash fleece for spinning....)
Just found your blog. Will be back in the UK (Worcester) for a new grandchild in October and will keep my eye on the Three Counties schedule! Thanks for all of the lovely pics. And I am glad I found your blog!!!

Yes, it was actually too warm for sheep to need coats so we felt rather sorry for them needing them to keep clean. Glad to meet you Lynda.
