This is just to say......*

Julie over at Little Cotton Rabbits is undertaking a sponsored walk - accompanied by her daughter Amy, to raise funds for CHIPS , an organisation that provides play opportunities for children with various disablilities. A valuable resource for families like Julie's as it gives time to the rest of the family whilst their child is happy, safe and occupied.   Anyone who reads Julie's blog will know how vital this is.  If you've never read Julie's blog, please go and have a look - and admire her little cotton rabbits.  She manages to portray her difficult day-to-day life with her autistic son, Toby, with courage and humour but never self-pity and I, for one, find her an inspiration.  Her problems as a carer make mine fade into insignificance.  If you're a knitter, you'll be charmed by her lovely little toys.  I was lucky to have the opportunity to buy one (named Harper), and he is quite delightful.

Julie is looking for donations for this very good cause and is running a competition, for those who donate, to win a sweet bunny.  Harper and I hope you'll want to be involved, even a very small amount would help.

This is just to say

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving

for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

hiya Jane,
thanks for your comment- I'm glad you enjoyed the horsey post.

I particularly like the poem at the end of this post. I'm always in awe of how people can group words together giving them such a lot of extra meaning and resonance.

I hope all is well with you,
Elaine xx

That l'il bunny is SO CUTE!

The poem is wonderful. How many times have I gone to the fridge to find what I was going to use (a vital ingredient usually) has GONE?!

Hello Jee, I found your blog whilst browing through blogger profiles of people interested in arts and crafts. I have added your blog to my favourites list as I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it and admiring the stunning photographs.
My heart aches for you; my MIL is 99 this year and like yours, has been saying for many years that this Christmas will be the last, etc. but now it looks like she will survive to 100. She lived in her own home until a few years ago when the powers-that-be decided she was unable to look after herself any longer, so we took her in to live with us, after making some expensive modifications to our house! She was only here with us for 3 months, and we experienced much of what you are going through with M. Then she had a fall and again, the PTB decided she should be in a facility with 24 hour care (although I have a certificate in aged care myself). She is not far from us and we visit her weekly. Some days good, some not so good.
Sorry this is so long, but your posts really touched a chord with me.
Do take care of yourself - you must continue to make time for yourself as you have been doing!
