Is it a bird? Is it a plane?........

These are the latest things flying around off the hills outside our house - very confusing for the buzzards and the jackdaws that live around here.

They look like a hazard to the more conventional hang gliders too!

Several people have asked about the pattern for the mitred rugs.   I don't know where this pattern came from as it was handwritten in a bundle of things from my sister's stash with a tension square to show what it looked like.  I'm happy to pass it on to anyone who wants it by email, but as I can't accredit it (I'm sorry if I'm breaching anyone's copyright) I don't think I should publish it here.   Similarly, if anyone would like the logcabin square pattern, let me know.

You can increase or decrease the size of the individual strips, blocks and squares, and knit them with or without borders.  Both rugs are great for using up oddments and single balls - though if you could make something stunning if you bought a combination of perhaps 4 colours and knitted each square the same for the logcabin.  The mitred rug can be increased in size by adding squares and rows, and would probably work in 4ply or a thicker yarn on appropriate needles.

I haven't checked Ravelry, you 'll probably find similar rugs there.

That looks perilous - it's getting to be as bad as living near Heathrow, isn't it? Well, almost!

It's certainly a bit unnerving when they come down low enough to wave at you in the garden!
